Welcome to Magnetic Island

An island home to an expansive National Park, Magnetic Island truly lives up to its name. ‘Maggie’ to locals and those who frequent the island is home to hidden waterfalls, secluded beaches, and 25 kilometres of bushwalks.

Step ashore and become immersed in eucalypt forests with thriving koala populations and stunning granite headlands standing strong among an array of hoop pines. Take in the sights from Forts Walk or wander at your own pace on the magical Butterfly Walk home to blue monarch butterflies showing you the way.

Abundant with wildlife, see adorable rock wallabies along Geoffrey Bay or cosy up to koalas at eco-resorts. Take advantage of the pristine coastline and ride horses through the crystal-clear waters.

Enjoy the sparkling blue sea out from Nelly Bay and Geoffrey Bay to see vibrant coral and marine life on a snorkelling trail. There’s even a German shipwreck that plays host to swarms of fish just waiting for you to visit. Head to the largest beach on the island, Horseshoe Bay for a swim in the enclosure, picnic in the park, or alfresco dining. This is the perfect spot for jet-skiing, wakeboarding or kayaking or simply taking in the sunset with a spot of fishing or a glass of bubbles.

From a boat or from the shore, spot whales on their annual migration from August to October or time your stay with turtle season to witness the magnificent creatures lay eggs from November to January. Spend your days exploring the island the in a classic topless car or mini-moke, uncovering 23 golden beaches surrounding the island.
